Taegeuk Il Jang is the first pattern that you will learn in World Taekwondo.
In Korean
- 'Il' translates as the number 1.
- 'Jang' translates to 'Chapter'
Therefore, it translates as: Chapter 1.
The pattern is made up mostly of walking stances, but there are a few front stances which will allow you to practice transitioning between stances.
The pattern begins in Junbi Sogi.

Turn 180 degrees to face the front and finish in Junbi Sogi on the same spot that you started.
